Hiding behind 'anonymous'
let's add a bit to the
'why' column at right.
No blogs, please, but
here we are.
We explored a bit of the
Alps' beginnings from Turin,
by bicycle, during the August
holidays. Up the Ala di Stura.
There we saw a strange thing
that wanted photographing.
Day up, again by bicycle,
dragging 8x10 view camera
in the 'B.O.B.' trailer.
Up and up.
Sprawling the bike, trailer,
shopping bags of film holders,
camera, and stuff, quick to
get to making the photograph.

Perché? (Why?)
I apologize for not writing in Italian.
I could, because I'm a Californian who's
wound up in Italy. But.
Wound up.
And a photographer.
Speaking.
Within these 'walls' one is free
to speak - or not - whether or not
anyone at all may read, twist,
understand, manipulate,
destroy, or be intrigued by any of it.
Back to why - perché.
Sometimes someone asks me
'why not': 'Do you have a blog?'
I don't, or didn't. Now I do.
I might copy here what I write
by fits to friends when
something pricks me.
I send out emails, usually
to a 'bcc' list, with these rants.
So here it is in public.
As are pictures,
photographs, which are
burdened expressing
what matters most.
A patient word of request
on comportment:
Civility counts.
Intemperate posts lacking
equilibrium of thoughtful quality
will be removed. As will commercial
or cynically self-serving entries.
Please be forceful as required.
And kind.
